The Kansas City Chiefs have won the Super Bowl once more, so now is the time for everyone else to try and unseat them. The Houston Texans, who could cause havoc in the AFC, are the team that is rising the fastest in sports in 2023.

But making the transition from fierce playoff competitor to serious Super Bowl contender is no easy feat. With legal resources at his disposal, general manager Nick Caserio has his work cut out for him. He still has time to execute the necessary deals, acquisitions, and draft selections to guarantee Houston’s position atop the AFC South.

One thing is certain, even though there’s no assurance the Texans will benefit from those investments. The most crucial piece of the puzzle is in their possession. Since the team has been sorely lacking a franchise quarterback, quarterback C.J. Stroud makes them dangerous by default.

They stay outside of the elite for the time being. Houston was ranked ninth in ESPN’s much too early power rankings, behind the AFC’s Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Chiefs, and Buffalo Bills.

DJ Bien-Aime stated, “Their window to maximize Stroud’s rookie contract is now.” Additionally, the team boasts the highest number of free agents (30) heading into the summer. Without a doubt, the Texans of 2024 will appear different.

Just how different is up to Caserio, but the good news is that high-profile free agents like edge rusher Jonathan Greenard and kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn want to return.
