Disappointing News For Browns As The GM Declares…

wMyles Garrett, a top player for the Cleveland Browns, only required two words to express his belief that his team will win the AFC North the next season. As part of Super Bowl LVIII media week on Thursday, Garrett was asked what the Browns must do to win the difficult division in 2024 by Sports Illustrated on Radio Row. The five-time Pro Bowler said, “Be healthy,” without skipping a beat. That concludes it. Garrett’s brief reaction might be interpreted as a slur to the Baltimore Ravens, the defending division champions and opponents in the AFC North. The Ravens finished 13-4 in 2023 and made it to the AFC championship game.

Many of the Ravens’ essential roster players, including 2023 NFL MVP front-runner Lamar Jackson, should be back for the upcoming year. Furthermore, offensive coordinator Todd Monken will have called plays for Baltimore for a full year. Garrett and the Browns might surreptitiously challenge for the AFC North title in 2024, even with Baltimore’s talent and the Cincinnati Bengals’ return of a healthy Joe Burrow at quarterback. After a taxing ’23 season in which Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson and running back Nick Chubb suffered season-ending injuries, Garrett gave a brief talk about how his squad overcame hardship. “It was a matter of commitment to the game and commitment to each other,” Garrett stated.”Guys putting away their phones, trying to become a real team and brotherhood, and wanting to know their brother.” When people began going down, like Deshaun, Chubb, or several guys out for a game or multiple games, things like that actually made it a lot easier. You know you’ve been put to the test when you’ve been in the fire with those guys. You are reliable. And in the last stretch, that was really significant.” The Browns will have the offseason to get ready for the divisional marathon that is expected to begin next season. Garrett is waiting for the announcement of this year’s Defensive Player of the Year voting results, which is scheduled on Thursday night. With 14 sacks this season, the Cleveland standout is a possible first-time winner of the trophy. Garrett, though, faces stiff competition from other worthy celebrities like Micah Parsons and T.J. Watt on the ballot.
