Completed Deal: The NEW YORK ISLANDER have reached an agreement on a contract worth $89.5 million With….

While Ireland will get the post-Kenny eras underway next month with friendlies against Belgium and Switzerland, we will still have to wait quite a while before the team plays in a competitive fixture under the new manager. That will not happen until September with the beginning of the 2024 UEFA Nations League campaign.

Of course, we still have no idea who that new head coach will be.

Lee Carsley is thought to be the FAI’s preferred candidate, although there are some doubts over his willingness to take the job. Neil Lennon is also said to be in the running as things stand.

The FAI initially wanted to have a new boss in place for the UEFA Nations League draw, which takes place in Paris tomorrow at 5pm Irish time. While that appointment has yet to come to fruition, we do have an idea as to who Ireland could face this autumn.

John Tavares, the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs and a former member of the NY Islanders, has been under fire from the Toronto media and fan base for his 10-game goalless streak that ended just before the All-Star break.

The Islanders’ former first-overall selection is currently dealing with more serious issues at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Tavares is suing the Canada Revenue Agency, according to Glen McGregor of the National Post, on the grounds that he owes the agency more than $8 million in taxes and interest.

The dispute concerns the signing bonus that Tavares received when he signed a seven-year, $77 million deal back in 2018.
