JUST IN: phillies Manager Rob Thomson Angrily Announces His Exit Just Because….

In other news, former Phillies righty Noah Syndergaard is trying to get back on track after a dismal 2023 campaign in which he started 18 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Guardians and posted a 6.50 ERA and 6.20 FIP.

Heyman stated that the New York Yankees, “among about 15 teams,” attended several of Syndegaard’s bullpen sessions.

Heyman went on to say that the former All-Star’s fastball velocity was “said to be in the mid-90’s.” This would be a rather amazing development given the significant decline in velocity he has seen after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March 2020. With a fastball averaging 94.5 mph, Syndergaard spent the 2022 season divided between the Los Angeles Angels and the Phillies. His fastball averaged 92.3 mph in 2023. Both were well below the 97.9 mph average the former All-Star achieved as recently as 2019 while playing for the New York Mets.

Currently, it seems unlikely that Syndergaard, one of baseball’s more electrifying pitchers, will ever play the same role again. Nonetheless, he might still be around the game for a while if his fastball velocity increases slightly and approaches the 94.5 mph average he had in 2022. The pitcher Syndergaard was in 2022, when he recorded a 3.94 ERA and 3.83 FIP over 134 2/3 innings, was a valuable asset.
