“This is turning into a proactive endeavor.” Arsenal is also keeping an eye on Leeds, a £5.5 million target.

Arsenal is now interested in Josh Doig, who has been heavily linked to Leeds United during the January transfer window. A trade could still happen after one to Marseille fell through.

As per a report by journalist Dean Jones on Give Me Sport, Leeds is interested in signing the young Scottish player, who is the latest Scottish star to make an impression in Italy.

He arrived at Verona from Hibernian in the summer of 2022, and after making his debut in the first team the previous year, he contributed to six goals in 22 games as a left-back. He has made 14 more appearances for Verona this season.

Leeds, Rangers, Torino, and Monza are reportedly interested in the £5.5 million-rated left-back. Verona is open to selling. Marseille was rumored to be closing in on a deal after submitting a £4.3 million proposal.

However, Doig competed for Verona over the weekend, and according to Football Scotland, Sassuolo made a late approach, casting doubt on Marseille’s proposal. It’s still up in the air; Jones talks about the competition for Doig.

“Leeds and Rangers were well-informed about the target [Doig], and Arsenal has been updated on his progress for the past year or so.” He is an extremely skilled player, according to Jones.

“This is turning into a proactive search for a realistic player. However, from Leeds’ point of view, they are targeting a select group with particular backgrounds and characteristics. Ben Johnson is reachable and might be the right person.
