Chelsea’s striker shortage may be addressed by moving Karim Benzema or Roberto Firmino…

Mauricio Pochettino may have hoped for some quiet time with his family during Chelsea’s Premier League break, but he is already aware that he might not have that luxury due to the possible arrival of a new forward.

The Blues have not shied away from being busy throughout recent transfer windows, and with speculation swirling over the potential arrival of a new forward, there’s a good chance the club’s sporting directors or owners may give them a call. On Saturday, the head coach of Chelsea refuted rumors that he was looking to add a striker this month, even in light of Nicolas Jackson’s AFCON representation for Senegal and Christopher Nkunku’s hip problem.

The Frenchman’s injury will have an effect on how the west London team’s roster is evaluated. Prior to the victory over Fulham, Pochettino said that he was’somewhat concerned’ about the 26-year-old’s condition.

However, Pochettino is hoping for some relaxation following the fervor of the holiday season into the new year. The 51-year-old’s regular contact with sporting directors is unlikely to allow for too much time off until Chelsea face Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup trying to overturn a one-goal deficit, despite the fact that many meetings were held with the club’s owners last week.

“It will be nice to have a little change of pace, and I have to see my family [in Spain].” I won’t be able to truly unplug with the chairman. I will have to be reachable around-the-clock in case the owners or the sporting director need to get in touch with me. I am aware that in football, anything can happen at any time. To be perfectly honest, I would rather the phone never rang. It is much better for me if it doesn’t ring.

Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney have always been Chelsea’s top transfer alternatives. But the former is now playing Nigeria in the Ivory Coast after just agreeing to a new contract with Napoli.

Additionally, there seems to be some understanding that, given the Bees’ own injury problems, Toney might stay at Brentford until the conclusion of the season. Furthermore, neither will be inexpensive.
